Champion Police investigating after man vandalizes laundromat bathroom

CHAMPION, Ohio (WKBN) – Police are investigating after someone vandalized a wall inside of a laundromat in Champion Thursday night.

Surveillance cameras inside Mahoning Launderama on Mahoning Avenue captured a man tugging at the change machine before he walked into the bathroom.

“He just went to the quarter machines, of course he went to pull on them. There’s no way these are coming out of the wall,” said Mahoning Laundrama owner Tracey Bernhard.

A customer discovered that drywall in the bathroom was damaged. Bernhard believes the suspect was trying to reach the machines through the bathroom wall, but the man did not get very far through it.

“We put the reinforcements in there, never thinking they would be a benefit, but they actually were a wonderful benefit,” Bernhard said.

The damage inside the building has since been repaired.

“My customers deserve to have a safe and beautiful laundromat to go to and they do,” she said.

Police are still working to identify the man in the video.
