Two people are dead after a car crashed into a utility pole

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – Police said two people are dead after a violent car crash closed Salt Springs Road in Youngstown.

One car crashed into a pole at the intersection with Meridian Road near Phantom Fireworks retail outlet around 9 p.m. After crashing into the pole, the car burst into flames.

According to Youngstown police, the car was reported stolen from Campbell.

Salt Springs Road was closed for some time as part of the investigation, but it is now open.

Ohio Edison crews were also on scene, working to stabilize the utility pole damaged in the crash.

Identities of the victims have yet to be released.
