CANFIELD, Ohio (WKBN) – A new development on Wednesday in the effort to build new schools in Canfield.
State Representative Al Cutrona announced that a new state budget that passed on Wednesday in the House has $33 million for the Canfield building project.
The budget must still pass the Senate and be signed by the governor.
Canfield Schools issued a release Thursday thanking Cutrona for championing the district.
“After many years of making our case to state legislators about the inequities of state funding, Rep. Cutruna has taken unprecedented steps in the right direction. Our middle school is over 100 years old and replacing it will be a substantial burden on our taxpayers. Representative Cutrona understands this burden and is helping to alleviate it with the amendment he proposed in the Ohio House on Wednesday. We appreciate the support of the House of Representatives and are hopeful that this budget will be passed by the Senate and signed by the Governor.,” said Superintendent Joe Knoll.
