A man many in Canfield consider a hero is getting a liver transplant he needs.
The youngest daughter of Greg Cooper surprised him with the news that they found him a donor.
Cooper, who is the Athletic Director for Canfield High School, has been diagnosed with a non-alcoholic fatty liver disease.
Many gathered to raise money Saturday for his transplant at the Saint Michael’s Family Life Center. This is part of what he had to say shortly after he found out.
“God bless you all. Thank you very much. And it has been as much of an honor to have been the athletic director at Canfield as it has to have been a naval aviator,” Cooper said.
Proceeds from Saturday’s event will go to the Longing for a Liver fund, which will mostly go toward his surgery.
His family expects the transplant to happen sometime next month.
