CAMPBELL, Ohio (WKBN) – Police said a man attacked his ex-girlfriend and then led officers on a chase, crashing through two toll booth barriers on Sunday night.

Police said it all began just after 9 p.m. Sunday in the 300 block of Sanderson Ave. Officers received a report that a woman was running down the street, covered in blood and screaming for help.

The 26-year-old woman told police that she and her friend were playing a game with her 8-year-old child when they heard a loud bang in the basement. They went to investigate when they say her ex-boyfriend, 21-year-old Kevin Silver, charged up the stairs toward them.

The woman said Silver choked her until she fell unconscious. She said as she regained consciousness, he continued to attack her and push her down, according to a police report.

The woman said with the help of her friend, they were able to escape and run to a neighbor’s house to call for help.

Police said the woman had cuts on her face and possibly a broken tooth as a result of the attack. The child and other woman weren’t injured, according to the report.

Police said they found that Silver had kicked open the basement door to get into the house.

He left before police arrived, but police received a report that he returned to the house around 10:50 p.m. The victim was still at the hospital at this time.

When police arrived to investigate, they spotted a suspicious vehicle — a Buick sedan — parked on Hyatt Avenue, just east of 10th Street.

Police said they tried to question the driver, which they believed to be Silver, but he drove away, leading police on a chase.

Police said the chase reached speeds of over 130 miles per hour. The driver went through stop signs, almost hit a curb and didn’t signal turns, according to the report.

Police said the car broke through an Ohio turnpike barrier from Interstate 76 east at the interchange. The car also drove through another barrier as it crossed into Pennsylvania, where the pursuit was called off, according to the report.

Police said at 1:02 a.m., Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers arrested Silver.

He was arrested on felonious assault and domestic violence charges and faces failure to comply with and several traffic violation charges.
