Jerrell Womack was indicted by a Mahoning County grand jury on an involuntary manslaughter charge for allegedly causing an overdose death.

Bond was set at $1 million for the man accused of causing an overdose death in October 2017.

Jerrell Womack appeared in Mahoning County Court of Common Pleas on Tuesday morning.

Womack was indicted by a Mahoning County grand jury on an involuntary manslaughter charge. He also faces a corrupting another with drugs charge and a separate escape charge.

At the time that a warrant was issued for his arrest, Womack was on parole for a previous involuntary manslaughter conviction.

He had been sentenced to seven years in prison for the death of Dene Montgomery in Youngstown in 2010.

Womack’s mother asked Judge R. Scott Krichbaum for the minimum sentence, saying her son was involved in a drug deal and fired his gun only because he was shot first.

Womack’s trial on the latest charges is set for January
