BOARDMAN, Ohio (WKBN) – Police say a teacher who was under investigation for inappropriate actions with a student has died by apparent suicide.

The Boardman High School teacher was found on the railroad tracks on Pine Lake Road in Beaver Township on Friday morning.

The teacher was escorted out of the building Thursday following allegations involving an 18-year-old student. He was on administrative leave during the investigation, but he hadn’t been charged.

The district released the following statement on Friday:

The district is in a state of shock and grief. Emergency counselors are called in to deal with the sudden loss. We ask for prayers and support for our Spartan family as we are grieving today.

Editor’s note: WKBN is not naming the teacher as he had not been charged with a crime prior to his death.
