VERNON Twp., Ohio (WKBN) – The Warren Post of Ohio State Highway Patrol has released that a man who was previously reported as missing was fatally hit by a car on Thursday night.
According to a press release, James Ditallo, 88, of Boardman was struck by a vehicle when he was walking on State Route 7 near State Route 88 in Vernon Township in Trumbull County around 10:15 p.m.
Troopers confirmed that a driver struck Ditallo after the pedestrian stopped in the northbound lane. Ditallo died from his injuries at the scene. The driver was not injured.
OSP said that State Route 7 was closed in the area of the crash for the investigation but it has since reopened.
Reports said that Johnston Township Fire Department and Trumbull County Sheriff’s Office assisted at the crash scene. The crash remains under investigation.
