YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – Saturday was National Campaign Organizing Kickoff Day for Democratic Presidential candidate Bernie Sanders.
An event was scheduled locally on Saturday afternoon at the B&O Station in Youngstown.
Attendees could register to vote and connect with fellow Bernie supporters from around the Valley. There was also live music, food and guest speakers, including local author and historian Sean Posey.
There was even a live video streamed from Sanders.
The Sanders campaign held 5,000 of these support rallies across the country, but the goal is not to fundraise.
The Youngstown event focused on supplying grassroots support. This includes homemade signs from recycled materials.
“We’re looking to get people to volunteer and get them excited and get them out working for Sanders,” said volunteer Chuckie Denison.
There were 100 of these events held in Ohio.
