HANOVER TWP., Ohio (WKBN) — A woman is confirmed dead in what police are calling a homicide investigation in Columbiana County.

Police were called about 11:30 a.m. Friday to the 8900 block of Depot Road and have been there all day.

The victim was found on the back porch. The cause nor the victim’s name is being released at this time.

Columbiana County Sheriff Brian McLaughlin said he believes the suspect knows the victim.

“Initially, they had called for an ambulance and once the first responders got here, they realized that it was more than just a medical issue,” McLaughlin said.

The woman’s name is being withheld pending additional family notification.

The Morning Journal reports that deputies were looking for a Dodge Ram pickup truck in connection with the murder but that the truck was found abandoned near Salineville just before 9 p.m. Friday.
