Austintown fundraiser to benefit girl with brain injury

Local News

Friends and family of an Austintown girl organized a spaghetti dinner on Sunday to benefit Jocelyn Traw, who suffered from a traumatic brain injury.

The Awesome Jocey Spaghetti Dinner raised money for the treatment of Jocelyn, who was hit riding her bike in July.

She was taken to Akron Children Hospital after the accident.

Since then, her family has racked up more than $100,000 in medical bills.

Hundreds came to Mineral Ridge High School for the event.

Sarah Traw, Jocelyn’s mother, said they are very thankful for everyone’s continued support, even the emergency service providers.

“Our flight nurse has been in constant contact with me. Our PIC-U nurse, our respiratory, they’ve really just kind of become people that I know I can talk to,” she said.

She also said Jocey is healing well, but still needs treatment and physical therapy.

They were able to raise about $9,000 for that care.
