PERRY TOWNSHIP, Pa. (WKBN) – An accident involving an ATV left one person dead in Perry Township Saturday afternoon.
According to Pennsylvania State Police, two people were riding an ATV on Smith Road at around 2:47 p.m. when the driver lost control, driving off of the roadway and hitting a large tree stump.
Investigators say the driver and his passenger were thrown off of the ATV upon impact.
The driver, 23-year old Cody Downs, of Jackson Center, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The passenger, 23-year old Douglas Hawks, of Sandy Lake, was taken by helicopter to the hospital for serious injuries.
According to officials, neither of the victims were wearing helmets.
