Attendees say Cocca’s Pizza the best at Slice of the Valley Challenge

Local News

People celebrated the Valley’s pizzerias on Saturday during the annual Slice of the Valley Pizza Challenge, and the results are in.

The winner of the People’s Choice Award was Cocca’s Pizza.

There were also other awards given out for the best specialty pizza, which went to Buena Vista Cafe, and the best plain pizza, which was given to Ianazone’s.

This is the fifth year of the fundraiser, hosted by the Warren Rotary Club.

The event raises money for local charities, including Habitat for Humanity of Trumbull County, Someplace Safe, the Animal Welfare League of Trumbull County and Vietnam Vets of America.

People filled the Metroplex in Liberty to taste and vote for their favorite pizza. This year, there were also awards for craft beer for the first time.

“We have 15 pizza vendors from across the Valley, and they’re all competing for the best pizza in the Valley,” said Warren Rotary President Venita Collins.

First News Anchor Stan Boney was one of the special guest judges.
