BOARDMAN, Ohio (WKBN) – Police arrested a man in connection to a standoff in Boardman Monday.

Officers were called about 3:30 p.m. to a house on Beechwood Drive on reports of shorts fired.

Armed police officers surrounded a house and discovered that 39-year-old Erik Smith was barricaded inside.

Police were able to get Smith out of the house and determined that three shots had been fired. They aren’t sure if those shots were fired inside or outside of the house, but it was before officers arrived.

Investigators said the incident started with an argument between neighbors. No one was hurt.

Neighbors were removed from their homes.

Smith was booked into the Mahoning County Jail on charges of inducing panic, improperly discharging a firearm into a habitation, aggravated menacing and obstruction of official business.

Beechwood Drive was closed to traffic until about 5 p.m., when police cleared the scene.

Tuesday, Smith was arraigned on the charges, and bond was set at $7,500. He pleaded not guilty to the charges.
