NILES, Ohio (WKBN) - Arconic confirms layoffs at its plant in Niles.
When contacted Tuesday, a company spokesperson released the following statement:
“A number of various positions have been eliminated as part of the company’s cost reduction initiative, announced during the last earnings report.”
Arconic announced in February that its global operations will be splitting into two different companies. The CEO was replaced, and the dividend was cut by two-thirds.
The company did not say how many jobs were cut at the Niles plant.
Arconic split from the manufacturing giant ALCOA in 2016.
Arconic is a producer of titanium aero ingots, mill products and structures for aircraft, according to the company's website.
