Another bridge in the Mahoning Valley was covered with American Flags on Sunday.
Around 120 flags were put on the Western Reserve bridge over Interstate 680.
The Mahoning County Veterans Service Commission wants the flags to welcome people to the area and let them know that we support our veterans here.
They’re also committed to making these flags a Valley mainstay.
“This is our third bridge, and the flags were bought and paid for by the Mahoning County Veterans Service Commission in support of veterans,” said Susan Krawchyk of the commission. “We’ll have them up for as long as we’re around and we’ll replace them if they do get torn and tattered.”
Krawchyk says they got the idea by seeing a bridge near Columbus over Interstate 71 that was always covered in flags, so they wanted to bring that closer to home.
