MECCA TWP., Ohio (WKBN) — Two women were taken to the hospital with serious injuries following a two-car crash in Mecca.

It happened around noon Thursday on Hoagland Blackstub Road.

Troopers say the accident remains under investigation, but based on the evidence it appears the 78-year-old driver of a grey Honda Civic was traveling Southbound when she went left of center and hit a white Buick traveling North.

“This was a head-on collision on Bazetta Road involving two single occupants of each vehicle both drivers were taken to St. Elizabeth’s with serious injuries,” said firefighter Rob Wasser of Bazetta Township Fire Department.

Troopers are handling the investigation into the crash, they say a citation is expected to be issued.
