BRACEVILLE TOWNSHIP, Ohio- Two men are currently being held at the Trumbull County Jail after their actions at the scene of a deadly crash Tuesday in Braceville Township.
According to the Ohio Highway State Patrol, troopers were on the scene of a crash in Braceville Township at the intersection of Route 5 and Route 534 where they had stopped traffic on Route 5.
Troopers say that a Jeep Wrangler drove through the road closure, driving past stopped traffic and onto the scene of the fatal crash.
Multiple orders were given for the driver to stop, but the driver continued onto the scene, running over the foot of one of the officers and subsequently ended up with that officer’s weapon, according to the patrol.
The driver fled the scene and a pursuit ensued.
During the chase, a passenger threw the firearm from the vehicle.
Eventually, the Wrangler came to a stop in a nearby parking lot and both the driver and passenger were taken into custody. The firearm was recovered and returned to the officer.
The driver was identified as Leaon Gordon, 26, of Brookfield, Connecticut. The passenger was identified as Noah Denious, 22, of Cuyahoga Falls.
Initial charges included failure to comply/fleeing and tampering with evidence, both felony charges.
The case is still under investigation and additional charges are pending.
Both are now jailed on bonds of $25,000 each. They are due back in Newton Falls Court next week.
