1 killed, 2 hurt in Columbiana County crash

Police say drugs do appear to be a factor in the crash

FAIRFIELD TWP., Ohio (WKBN) - A woman from Columbiana County was killed Wednesday when she collided with a tractor-trailer and another vehicle. 

The accident happened about 7:45 p.m. on Route 7 near Metz Road. 

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, 46-year-old Tracy Swinehart was driving north on Route 7 when she went left of center and sideswiped the semi. She then struck another vehicle head-on.

Swinehart was taken to Mercy Health in Youngstown where she was pronounced dead. 

The driver of the other vehicle, Joseph Remish, 67, and his passenger Kathy Remish, 67, were both taken to Mercy Health with non-life threatening injuries. 

The driver of the semi was not hurt. 

The crash is under investigation. Police say drugs do appear to be a factor in the crash.
