'We watched him suffer': People close to victim still in shock over Sharon homicide

"I still can't wrap my head around it. I don't believe it."

For fear of their safety, some people quoted in the following story did not wish to give out their names.

SHARON, Pa. (WKBN) - Friends and family members are remembering 21-year-old Tyrone Cornish, Jr., or TJ, who was shot and killed Saturday in Sharon.

"Went out his way, did anything you asked. He could put a smile on anybody's face."

The shooting happened right outside the Willow Village Apartments off Sterling Avenue.

"I still can't wrap my head around it. I don't believe it."

People who were there say Cornish and 18-year-old Jaylaun Coleman started fighting. After the fight, Coleman went to his bag and grabbed a gun.

"The one brother that he had the altercation with was basically like, 'Get yo kids out the way, it's about to get ugly.' As he said that, after he said that, he pulled the trigger and shot."

He shot Cornish in the neck.

"We all turned around and TJ was on the ground."

Cornish was taken to the Sharon Regional Medical Center where he died due to his injuries.

"He suffered and we watched him suffer."

The incident has neighbors on edge.

"I shouldn't have to worry about taking my kids outside -- my three little babies to play outside and worrying about if bullets are going to be flying or not," said neighbor Abby Brown.

Coleman is in police custody and is pending arraignment.
