AUSTINTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – Voters have elected Michele Lepore-Hagan as their State Representative of the 58th District.

Lepore-Hagan received more than 59 percent of the vote, according to unofficial returns.

The Democratic incumbent faced up against Republican Corrine Sanderson and Andrea Mahone, running with no party affiliation.

“I think the people of the 58th District realize that I am working really hard for them, and I care about the issues that I started to work on,” Lepore-Hagan said Tuesday.

Lepore-Hagan served one term in the Ohio Legislature.

During that time, she said she worked to preserve the state’s Developmental Disability Centers. She said she also played a key role in securing more than $16 million in capital appropriations funding for her district for area Arts, Education, and Small Businesses.

She also introduced HB 379 to make improvements to the Youngstown Plan through use of community learning centers.

Lepore-Hagan said her priorities include strengthening public education, repairing and rebuilding the community’s infrastructure and ensuring local governments have resources needed to provide essential services.View election resultsRead election stories
