Leetonia discusses Bigfoot legend at 3rd annual festival

LEETONIA, Ohio (WKBN) – This weekend, the village of Leetonia discussed whether or not Bigfoot is real or just a conspiracy theory.

Along with Friends of the Leetonia Coke Ovens, Leetonia hosted their 3rd annual Bigfoot Festival Friday and Saturday.

A “One Bigfoot of a Hill” 5K race was run Friday to kick off the festival, where the first 100 people who registered received free Bigfoot race T-shirts.

The festival had food, games and contests for all ages, like a howling contest, in addition to multiple musical performances.

Though many people believe Bigfoot exists, there have been no reported sightings in the Leetonia area.

“Not that I know of, but when you research things on the computer it’ll tell you the area has a history. Wellsville, Canfield recently just a couple of years ago a guy claims he saw one in the field. And there’s been some around Carroll County, Columbiana County, Cuyahoga County,” said Paul DiRicco, a Coke Ovens Committee member.
