The Chill-Can plant in Youngstown must be open by September, so the company is beginning the hiring process.
Those interested in a job should send their resumes to The Joseph Company, at 1711 Langley Ave., Irvine, CA, 92653.
Last Friday, the Joseph Company — which makes the cans — signed a deal with a major beverage company. As part of that deal, one of the plants must be ready by September 1.
Company President Mitchell Joseph said he will start hiring security personnel soon.
“The first few people we’re going to start hiring here in the next month will be security people, people that will police the grounds, because we’re bringing a team of people in to live feeds and surveillance equipment so that we can see exactly what’s going on in Youngstown from California or from England,” he said.
Hiring for other positions will begin over the summer, and more hires will come as additional production comes online.
“We hope to start interviewing in June. We have an influx of resumes that have come in to California at least a foot deep. And, these are high-powered, quality people. We’re getting a lot of engineers now, resumes from Lordstown saying, ‘We don’t want to move from Youngstown. You know I’ve been in production or manufacturing for 20 years. Can I have an interview?’ And we absolutely will do that,” he said. “So we’re not going to be bringing in engineers, and production, and manufacturing, marketing and advertising people from out of town. We’re going to satisfy the Youngstown community first. That was our promise during construction, and we’ve kept it. All the people that worked on that project are from Youngstown. “
Joseph said in all, he plans to hire at least 237 people. He said pay will range from minimum wage to pay on par with what high-level engineers and those in marketing, sales and accounting would make.
