GROVE CITY, Pa. (WKBN) – A team from Grove City College will be featured in the second season of Food Network’s popular television show, “Cake Wars.”
Grove City College alumna Emily Bartlow and senior Tristan Slater will compete in a bake-off in an episode entitled, “Minecraft,” scheduled to air at 9 p.m. Monday, Feb. 1.
Bartlow and Slater are unable to comment on the outcome of the baking competition, but they said the competition was a challenge.
“To do a cake like that on TV, in four hours, is difficult,” Slater said.
The women roomed together freshman year at Grove City College and entered the contest on a whim, according to a news release from Grove City College. Bartlow got the call that they were selected for the show while she was in a finite math class.
“I was literally jumping around in the Hall of Arts and Letters courtyard when I found out. Those passing by probably thought I was crazy,” she said.
The episode was filmed last October during fall break at the college.
Bartlow, of Sacramento, Calif., graduated in December with a degree in communications and a minor in business. Slater is originally from Bethel Park, Pa.
