Republican Don Manning has taken a win over Democrat Eric Ungaro for state representative of Ohio’s 59th District.
Manning won with exactly 50 percent of the votes, according to Tuesday’s unofficial results.
The race was close, Manning and Ungaro were neck and neck throughout the race, with Ungaro leading majority of the time.
But in the end, Manning took the win with a difference of 409 votes. But, Ungaro is not conceding, because he says it is too close to call.
Manning graduated from Springfield Local High School and attended MCCTC.
He served in the United States Navy and went on to manage multi-million dollar budgets in the private sector before moving into the non-profit sector.
Manning says he supports fixing school funding issues, the second amendment and any legislation that will help Mahoning County be more business friendly.
Manning was defeated in 2016 when he ran for the seat against incumbent Democrat John Boccieri. Boccieri is now running for senate.
