Facebook: Jimmy Julian for Niles City Council at Large

Why should you be elected
I believe I should be elected because I can bring new ideas/views and an element of youth and energy that hasn’t been seen for awhile at the “at-large” position on council. I believe I can provide new ideas and ways on bringing economic development and growth to Niles, by means of attracting new businesses to our city. I also believe I can bring more transparency to office and shorten the bridge that has developed over the years between elected officials and the citizens of Niles. I plan on being a “public servant” in every sense of the word, and a true liaison for the fine people of our community on ongoing issues and city matters. I want to be an active councilman, who will help assist citizens with any questions or problems they might have city related, just as if they were reaching out to their own councilman/woman. I would also be a strong advocate for smart spending to make sure our city stays on the right path fiscally. While also working with our City Auditor to make sure any financial decisions made make sense from both a dollars and an ethical standpoint. I promise to always put the citizens of Niles and their well beings first and foremost in any legislative decisions I make. One day, I wish to settle down and start a family in Niles like how many of you reading this already have,. However, before doing that… I wish to do my part in making Niles the best city it can possibly be. I believe the people would be well represented by electing me to city council, and I humbly ask for your vote and support on May 7th in the primary. Thank you!

Top three priorities
1) Economic development and growth- I believe this is an area where we have become complacent in over the years. I believe my experience in industrial staffing and sales, along with dealing with business owners and corporate representatives on a daily basis can prove to be a great tool in bringing new business to the city. Places like the old General Electric complex and our downtown area have gone vacant for far too long!

2) Transparency- Find different ways to keep the citizens of Niles more informed about ongoing city events and matters. While also increasing public outreach when it comes to problems and concerns of our taxpaying citizens. I want people to know I’m their councilman, and they don’t have to even hesitate to contact me with any questions or problems they might have again just like I was their own ward council person. I want to help the citizens of Niles in any way I can!

3) Smart Spending- We as a city have finally been released from the shadows of fiscal emergency, and it’s my full intention to make sure we never even come close to the realm of that again. I would analyze every decision from a fiscal and financial standpoint to make sure it works efficiently for our city, along with working and communicating with our own City Auditor.

Biography
Hello everyone, for those of you who don’t know me my name is Jimmy Julian. I’m 26 years old and have been a lifelong resident of the city of Niles. I graduated from McKinley in 2011 and went on to attend YSU after. I am currently employed as a commercial recruiter for Callos Reosurce. I have hired dozens of Niles residents in my two years there for clients all over the Mahoning Valley. I am running for city council in the May election because I believe my generation needs to step up and become more involved and show more of a vested interest in our communities. All my life I have heard old stories of the “good ole days” in Niles. I wish to make those old memories a new reality and bring our city back to being a prominent community for families and home owners to move to.
