GENEVA, Ohio (WKBN) – The United States Geological Survey confirmed Monday that a small earthquake hit Ashtabula County on Saturday.
According to the USGS, the earthquake registered at 2.3 on the Richter scale and happened fourteen miles southwest of Ashtabula, approximately in Geneva, around 9:20 p.m. Saturday.
Severe earthquakes can have magnitudes above 8 on the Richter scale, while earthquakes below 2.0 are usually not felt.
Geneva Fire Department workers reported receiving no calls about Saturday’s quake.
