1 p.m. – 3200 block of Dunstan Dr. NW, Bethany Dibell, 23, arrested and charged with child endangering. Police said Dibell’s two young children got locked out of their apartment. They said the kids were soaking wet and wearing very little clothing. Witnesses tried to get them warm and fed them until police got there. Officers said they knocked at the door of Dibell’s apartment for about 20 minutes before she answered.
Monday, April 15
1100 block of Palmyra Rd. SW, a 15-year-old boy was charged with drug trafficking. Police said he was carrying a bag that smelled like pot. They said there was pot inside, packaged for sale.
Wednesday, April 17
5:29 p.m. – 2300 block of Milton St. SE, Brandon Reed, 47, of Akron, arrested and charged with endangering children. Police said Reed was driving at speeds of more than 70 miles per hour. They followed him in an attempt to stop him and reported that he stopped in a driveway. Officers said he started to get out of the car, holding a toddler, but they ordered him back inside. There was no car seat in the car, police said.
Thursday, April 18
4:30 a.m. – 1900 block of Wallace St. SE, Keairra Jones, 28, arrested on a warrant and charged with carrying concealed weapons and vehicle trespass. A woman told police she saw Jones peering into her boyfriend’s car. Officers said they saw Jones stopping cars and asking for a ride. She told them she didn’t have any weapons, but officers said they found a pocket knife in her coat.
1:29 p.m. – 1900 block of Hazelwood Ave. SE, James Stennett, 20, arrested and charged with domestic violence and interference with custody. During an argument with the mother of his 2-month-old, police said the woman kicked in a window and the glass hit Stennett in the face. He then started choking her on the ground next to the baby and throwing things at her, according to a police report. As she was packing her things to leave, police said Stennett pushed her to the ground, kicked her and said he was taking the baby. He said if police tried to take the baby from him, he was going to shoot them in the face, according to a report. An Amber Alert was sent out for the infant, who ended up with Stennett’s mother, who then brought the baby to police.
9:20 p.m. – 200 block of Washington St. NE, a woman told police that a man in a white van has been driving around in the area, pointing a gun at her. She said she was walking and he drove up to her, asking if she was a prostitute. When she told him she wasn’t, she said he pulled out the gun and told her to get in the van. She screamed and ran away, but said she has been seeing him driving around since then.
Friday, April 19
4:29 a.m. – 200 block of Tod Ave. NW, Stacey Walker, 55, arrested and charged with felonious assault. Police said Walker stabbed his friend in the chin with a small knife because he thought she stole his cigarettes.
