Warren crime activity: Victims say robber told them to get in tub and stay there

Tuesday, April 23

5:15 a.m. – Oak Knoll Avenue NE and E. Market Street, police got a call about a man chasing a naked boy and a naked girl through yards. The girl told police that her dad was chasing her and the boy. The dad told police that he and his wife heard noises from their daughter’s room and found her with the boy. Both she and the boy jumped out of her bedroom window and ran, according to a police report.

Wednesday, April 24

2:05 a.m. – 2100 block of Reeves Rd. NE, reported apartment break-in.

3:19 a.m. – 2400 block of Monticello Ave. NW, reported car break-in.

10:27 p.m. – 3200 block of Williamsburg St. NW, home invasion. A man told police that he heard a knock at the door and when he opened it, a man he didn’t know pushed his way inside. The robber had a gun and hit the man in the head with it, according to a police report. He said the robber ended up taking cash and marijuana while holding him and his girlfriend at gunpoint. He said the robber told them to get in the bathtub and stay there until he left the house.

Thursday, April 26

4:11 p.m. – Parkman Road, Stephen Simpson, arrested and charged with discharging firearms and felonious assault. Police said Simpson, who said he was a bail bondsman, was trying to arrest a woman in the Trumbull Plaza parking lot. In the process, he shot at her car, according to a police report. The owner of Around the Clock Bail Bonds reported firing Simpson three months ago due to “anger issues.”
