Warren crime activity: Police say pregnant woman smashed windows after fight


Wednesday, April 24

10:20 a.m. – location redacted, a woman reported a red truck that keeps driving past her house. She said the driver has been watching her and taking pictures and videos of her.

Thursday, April 25

8:30 a.m. – 700 block of Southern Blvd. NW, Jakiria Barnes, 25, charged with criminal damaging. A man told police Barnes showed up at his house and he wouldn’t let her in. He said Barnes got mad and smashed one of his house’s windows with a metal pipe. She also smashed windows on two different cars in the driveway, according to a police report. Officers said Barnes, who is pregnant, told them the man punched her in the stomach and she needed an ambulance, so she was taken to the hospital. She later told police the man is the father of her child and during an argument, he punched her in the stomach so she started smashing windows.

6:14 p.m. – 1500 block of Parkman Rd. NW, Rochelle Thomas, 28, arrested on a warrant and charged with drug paraphernalia and drug abuse. During a traffic stop, police said they saw Thomas pull a baggie of marijuana from her crotch area and stash it in her purse. Officers also found a marijuana tool in her purse, according to a police report.

Sunday, April 28

4 a.m. – 600 block of Mercer Ave. NE, police got a call from someone who said they heard gunshots in the area. Officers found shell casings and bullet holes near an apartment building, along with shot-out car windows, according to a police report. A witness told them there was a party going on and about 75 to 100 people came out when everyone started leaving. The witness said he didn’t think anyone had been hurt. When police searched the apartment, they said they found a digital scale and empty liquor bottles. Officers said they also smelled marijuana.

11:20 a.m. – 2100 block of Peace Ave. NW, police said two young children were running outside unsupervised. The mother told officers she was sleeping when they ran out. Police said the house was “deplorable,” with food and ants everywhere. Children Services is looking into it.

5:30 p.m. – 2800 block of Merriweather St. NW, a man told police three people held him at gunpoint and demanded he give them cash, his sweatshirt, his cell phone and his shoes. Before that, the victim said the two men and one woman asked him where his brother was and he told them he had no idea.

Monday, April 29

10:51 a.m. – 800 block of W. Market St., Alicia Beckwith, 28, of Rome, Ohio, arrested and charged with possessing drug abuse instruments; Ryan Repko, 31, of Cortland, arrested on a warrant. Police got a report that two people were using drugs in the Sunoco parking lot. Officers said they found Beckwith and Repko, along with a needle with a clear liquid inside in her purse. They found another needle and a crack pipe on Beckwith as well, according to a police report.

Tuesday, April 30

3:44 a.m. – 400 block of Maryland St. NW, reported apartment burglary. A woman said someone kicked in her apartment door and threw a rock through the front window. She didn’t think anything was missing.
