9:55 p.m. – 100 block of South St. SE, Neal Cowfer, Jr., 30, charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, drugs and tampering with evidence. Police said they found 16 grams of methamphetamine and a glass pipe during a traffic stop. Once Cowfer got to the jail, deputies said they found Suboxone strips hidden in his shoe.
Tuesday, March 12
10 a.m. – 3400 block of Tod Ave. NW, police said a seventh grader brought a pocket knife to McGuffey School. The principal said the student had the knife up her sleeve in class but it fell out, and another student told the teacher. The girl never threatened anyone with it, police said. She was suspended.
10:07 a.m. – 800 block of W. Market St., Corey Batton, 25, charged with DUI and endangering children. Police said Batton overdosed and passed out behind the wheel of a car with his 2-year-old in the back seat. They revived him with naloxone and called an ambulance. Children Services is investigating. Batton was jailed the next day.
10:46 a.m. – 1200 block of Robert Ave. NW, Charles Streeter, 32, charged with burglary. Police said Streeter broke into an apartment at the Stonegate Place Apartment complex and stole several items, including a computer and beef tips. He said he did it because the victim’s boyfriend stole his girlfriend’s car, according to a police report.
Wednesday, March 13
3 a.m. – Bonnie Brae Avenue NE and University Street NE, Lyndel Davis, 27, arrested and charged with DUI. Police said Davis failed sobriety tests and his blood-alcohol content tested .214, over the legal limit of .08.
9:30 p.m. – 1700 block of Clermont Ave. NE, police responded to the area on reports of possible shots fired. A man told them that a man he knew was driving back and forth, yelling obscenities at his house. He said he didn’t shoot at the truck, but he did throw firecrackers at it, according to a police report. Later that night, the driver of the truck called police and said his truck was shot at, showing them a bullet hole. The driver of the truck admitted to yelling obscenities at the man. No one has been charged.
Thursday, March 14
11 a.m. – 200 block of Belmont St. NE, a man told police that three men attacked and robbed him while he was walking back home from Circle K. The stole a fanny pack containing a cell phone and other items, according to a police report.
Friday, March 15
12:05 a.m. – 2400 block of Montgomery Ave., Tashae Perry, 24, charged with DUI and endangering children. Police said Perry was driving impaired and crashed into a utility pole. Officers said she failed sobriety tests and admitted to taking sleeping pills and prescription medication. Perry left her 4-year-old home alone for over an hour, according to a police report.
