3:50 p.m. – 2700 block of Mahoning Ave. NW, Keyauta McCorkle, 39, arrested and charged with disorderly conduct. Police said McCorkle went into the BMV and saw a woman, who she spit on. Witnesses said the two started yelling at each other and were asked to leave. McCorkle told police she did it because the woman spat on her kids the other day, according to a report.
4 p.m. – 200 block of Idylwild St. NE, Christopher Beaman, 26, arrested and charged with domestic violence and resisting arrest. Police said a victim told them that Beaman threw a TV at her, hitting her in the back, then picked up a knife and threatened to stab her. She said he also tried to burn her with a lighter before he ran away. Officers found him and said he got upset about being arrested because he thought the woman should be arrested, too. As they got closer to the cruiser, police said Beaman dug his feet into the ground and pulled away from them. He continued to resist and pull away from officers while swearing at them, police said.
11:53 p.m. – 300 block of Pine Ave. SE, a man claimed he was assaulted and robbed behind USA Gas Mart. Police said he changed his story, and they didn’t see any injuries on him. He said officers could check his pockets for weapons, but they found suspected crack cocaine there instead, according to a police report. The man said he had no idea how it got there and suggested that someone put it there when he was assaulted and robbed. No one has been charged.
Saturday, March 23
1:17 a.m. – Youngstown Road SE and Kenilworth Avenue, Raheem Cleveland, 38, charged with DUI, drug paraphernalia and liquor consumption in a motor vehicle. Police said Cleveland’s blood-alcohol content tested .129, over the legal limit of .08. Officers said he also had an open bottle and cup of tequila, a marijuana bowl and bags of unknown candy-shaped items inside the car.
1:38 p.m. – 300 block of North St. NW, David Trice, 26, charged with resisting arrest and domestic violence; Jessica Lorraine, 28, charged with domestic violence. Police responded to a physical fight between Trice and Lorraine, according to a report. Officers said Trice gave them a hard time while they were trying to arrest him by pulling away and refusing to follow their orders. Police said they hit him with a Taser twice to get him to cooperate.
5:40 p.m. – 300 block of Reo Ct. NW, Tabitha Ballew, 24, arrested and charged with cruelty to animals. A neighbor reported finding two dead dogs and one dog that was barely alive locked in a cage at Ballew’s apartment. She told police Ballew hadn’t been home in a week and she was given a key to keep an eye on the house for her. Officers said there was a pungent stench inside and conditions were deplorable. They said they saw clothing and dog feces and urine throughout the apartment. The dog that was alive was filthy, abnormally skinny and appeared to have started eating one of the dead dogs, police said. Humane agents were called to take the live dog. Police also contacted Children Services because Ballew has a young daughter. Neither of them were there at the time. Ballew turned herself in two days later.
Sunday, March 24
1:05 a.m. – 700 block of Kenmore Ave. SE, a man reported finding bullet holes all over his car, as well as some shattered car windows. He believed it was retaliation from his neighbors, with whom he said he has been having ongoing issues, according to a police report.
9:49 p.m. – Scott Street NE and Olive Avenue NE, Robert Mealy, 29, arrested on a warrant and charged with resisting arrest, drug paraphernalia, drug abuse and escape. During a traffic stop, police learned Mealy had a warrant out of Girard. They said Mealy tried to run away from them, but they tackled him to the ground. Officers found a crack pipe on him, according to a police report. Mealy was taken to the hospital because police said he started having seizures. They said he got up from his hospital bed and tried to escape. At that point, police said he admitted to having drugs in his shoe and officers found baggies of marijuana, crack cocaine and another drug — possibly Molly — in his shoe.
Monday, March 25
11:25 a.m. – 5000 block of Enterprise Dr., reported theft of catalytic converters from cars parked at U.S. Safety Gear.
6:30 p.m. – 1300 block of Oak St. SW, Christopher Carroll, 38, charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and drug abuse. While responding to a report of menacing, police said they found a bag of marijuana in Carroll’s pocket. They also found a pipe in the car he was driving, according to police.
