Warren crime activity: Man taunted woman with their child before running away, police say


Thursday, May 9

11:43 a.m. – 1600 block of Youngstown Rd. SE, police got a report of gunshots in the area and said they found three shell casings. No one was hurt.

Friday, May 10

10 p.m. – 1700 block of Larchmont Ave. NE, shooting at University Of Larchmont Bar & Grill. Three people were hurt. Police still haven’t found the person who fired the shots.

Sunday, May 12

3:02 p.m. – 700 block of Willard Ave. SE, reported home burglary.

9:37 p.m. – 2200 block of Peace Ave. NW, Rolfi Miguel Pena, Jr., 26, arrested and charged with resisting arrest, falsification, interference with custody and assault. Police said Pena was visiting with his son for the day but would not give the boy back to his mother. She went to Pena’s house to get her son back. The woman said he was holding the child up in front of the door, taunting her with the boy. Even though he didn’t have custody of the child, Pena ran away with him, police said. When police found Pena and the child, they said Pena lied about his name and pulled away from officers trying to arrest him.

Monday, May 13

12:31 a.m. – N. Park Avenue and Dana Street NE, Savannah Randolph, 31, of Cincinnati, arrested and charged with possessing drug abuse instruments; Jessica Bova, 32, arrested on a warrant and charged with possessing drug abuse instruments and drug paraphernalia. During a traffic stop, officers said they saw a needle fall from Bova’s lap onto the floor, as well as a crack pipe where she was sitting. They also found a needle in Randolph’s bag, according to a police report. Bova was first taken to the hospital for treatment, where nurses said they found three packages of heroin, which fell from her bra or tank top. She could face more charges when drug lab test results come back.

11:06 a.m. – 1200 block of Robert Ave. NW, reported break-in at the Stonegate Place Apartments. The property manager told police someone broke into two apartments sometime over the weekend.

4:40 p.m. – Seneca Avenue NE and Porter Street NE, Mark Walker, 33, arrested on a warrant and charged with DUI and open container. Police said Walker was driving drunk. As they arrested him, he fought against them and kicked or hit the divider in the police cruiser, according to a report. Walker later admitted to jail staff that he had been drinking and driving, police said.

6 p.m. – 2700 block of Randolph St. NW, reported break-in at a home in the process of being renovated.

6:32 p.m. – 800 block of Trumbull Ave. SE, a woman told police her neighbor, who she said is a registered sex offender, acts strangely around her kids. She said he walks his dog past the house and always asks the children if they want to pet it.

7:06 p.m. – 300 block of High St. NE, reported break-in at Odd Fellows. Police said someone forced their way into the building through a locked door and stole several pieces of equipment and electronics from inside.
