Liberty crime activity: Police say man ate marijuana after traffic stop

Wednesday, August 22

8 a.m. – 20 block of Colonial Dr., police say two TVs and a PS4 were stolen from a home. They say the burglar got in by breaking a bedroom window.

Thursday, August 23

12 a.m. – 900 block of Colonial Dr., police say a credit card and about $5 was stolen from an unlocked car.

1:07 p.m. – 200 block of Trumbull Ave., police say a wallet with a paper with a social security number written on it, $20, and a driver’s permit was stolen from an unlocked car.

8:10 p.m. – 100 block of Belmont Ave., David Sharpe, 55, of Youngstown was arrested and charged with driving under the influence, tampering with evidence, loud exhaust and open container. Police say after being pulled over, Sharpe ate marijuana. Police said he also had a plastic cup containing beer in the car.

Friday, August 24

8:13 a.m. -1400 block of Tomilu Dr., police say a rim and tire were stolen off of a parked car.

2:50 p.m. – 4200 block of Logangate Rd., police were called to an apartment for a fight between two women and their boyfriend. They told officers it was over money. 

6 p.m. – 100 block of Kris Dr., Michael Liskooka, 56, of Girard, charged with criminal trespass. Police said they were called for a drunk man trespassing. Officers said Liskooka refused to leave a home, calling the victim and her friends drug dealers and drug addicts.

7:08 p.m. – Gypsy Lane and Maryland Drive, police say they found a bag of white powder while searching a man during a traffic stop. The man told police that the white powder was prescription Xanax which had been run over by a car, crushing it into white powder. Police said a passenger later admitted that they had tried to trade the crushed up Xanax for other drugs. Charges are pending tests of the suspected drugs.

7:18 p.m. – 200 block of Goldie Rd., police say they witnessed a drug deal in the Walmart parking lot. Frank Mellon, 39, of Greenville, Pa., was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia. Keith Kennedy, 22, of Youngstown, was charged with drug trafficking, possession of drugs and driving with a suspended license. 

9:33 p.m. – Colonial Drive and Fifth Avenue, Chauncey Walker, 23, of Youngstown, was charged with driving under the influence and driving in marked lanes after being pulled over. Officers say he admitted to smoking one or two grams of marijuana and showed them “rolling papers.”

Saturday, August 25

11:50 a.m. – 3500 block of Belmont Ave., police say the Home Savings Bank was robbed by two men. The FBI is investigating.

Sunday, August 26

12 a.m. – 5000 block of Fifth Ave., a 76-year-old man told police that a woman he met online stole his medication from his home. He told police that he only knew her first name and that she was between 20 and 30 years old. 

11 p.m. – 4000 block of Madison Rd., a woman reported that her friend’s daughter took her car without her permission and wrecked it into a fire hydrant. She wanted to press charges.
