Liberty crime activity: Man sleeping outside Aldi ‘drank a lot of Moonshine,’ police said

Wednesday, Dec. 26

5:02 p.m. – Gypsy Lane and Belmont Avenue, Larry Riley, 66, charged with open container in a moving vehicle, driving under suspension and DUI. Police said they could smell alcohol during a traffic stop and Riley failed sobriety tests. Riley told officers he had been drinking beer all day, police said. He refused a breath test.

Friday, Dec. 28

2:47 p.m. – 500 block of Murray Hill Dr., Mark Leitsch, 36, arrested and charged with trafficking and possession. Officers said Leitsch admitted to carrying dope, 13 pills and packets of drugs that looked like they were ready to sell.

5:21 p.m. – 3400 block of Belmont Ave., Wayne Kohn, Jr., 65, charged with disorderly conduct. Police said they found Kohn asleep in the Aldi parking lot. Kohn told officers he drank a lot of Moonshine, according to a report.

Saturday, Dec. 29

2:41 p.m. – 4200 block of Belmont Ave., police said there was a fight between two women. One woman told officers 23-year-old Keiasia Williams hit her 2-year-old in the chest and that’s why they were fighting. Williams had an active warrant for her arrest on a domestic violence charge.

Sunday, Dec. 30

3:37 p.m. – 1000 block of Academy Dr., officers responded to a report of a broken car window. The owner told police there was no rock or weapon and he didn’t know someone who would do that.

Tuesday, Jan. 1

8:49 a.m. – 2600 block of Homestead Rd., reported car break-in.

4:05 p.m. – 2500 block of Fifth Ave., police said a man had been breaking into a house and staying there while the homeowner was away. Police said they cleared the home without finding him. There was damage to the house and a back window was broken, police said.

7:23 p.m. – 2700 block of Merrill Rd., reported car break-in.

Wednesday, Jan. 2

1:34 a.m. – 100 block of Belmont Ave., Nathaniel Byrd, 48, charged with obstructing official business and driving without a license. Officers said during a traffic stop, they found out Byrd had warrants for his arrest.
