Hubbard crime activity: Police investigate theft of steaks from store


Friday, Feb. 1 

2:58 p.m. – 300 block of Rebecca Ave., a dog and other animals were removed from a house after police say they found filthy conditions inside. An inspector from the Trumbull County Health Department told officers it was one of the worst cases of squalor he has seen in years, according to a police report. A 52-year-old woman lives in the house. An investigation is underway.

Saturday, Feb. 2

8:27 a.m. – 700 block of E. Liberty St., a man reported that a vehicle with a loud exhaust drove by his home. Police said he couldn’t provide a description of the vehicle or the way of travel, but he said it is an ongoing problem. Police said the man got into an argument with the responding officer. He was told officers would patrol the area in reference to his complaints but that he shouldn’t call dispatch about them.

Tuesday, Feb. 5

5:15 a.m. – 12400 block of Merritt Rd., Chardon, Christine Long, 25, of Brookfield, arrested on a warrant for a failure to appear in court charge. Long was transferred to the Trumbull County Jail to await a court hearing on the charge. 

8:07 p.m. – S. Main and Clingan streets, William Flowers, Jr., 47, of Lowellville, arrested and charged with driving under the influence and open container. Police received a call about a driver who was speeding and weaving in and out of traffic. Officers stopped the suspected driver, Flowers, and said he appeared intoxicated. Police said he denied drinking but said he had suboxone. Police said there were multiple open containers of alcohol in the vehicle, including an open can of cold Budweiser beer and a glass containing a liquid that smelled strongly of alcohol. 

Thursday, Feb. 7

8:43 a.m. – 800 block of W. Liberty St., the manager of Save a Lot reported that a man stole steaks from the store. Police are reviewing surveillance video and investigating the theft. 

11:35 a.m. – 600 block of Elmwood Dr., Jordan Yohman, 37, arrested and charged with domestic violence. A woman told police that Yohman smashed her head into the wall and hit her several times in the face. Yohman admitted to punching walls and smashing the woman’s phone but said the woman fell and hit her head when he pushed her out of his way, according to a police report.
