Saturday, Feb. 23
4:29 p.m. – 600 block of E. Liberty St., police received a report about a fight between a driver and a man standing out in his yard. The man said he yelled at the driver, who was speeding, and said the driver got out of his vehicle, began yelling and shoved him. Police spoke with the suspect who said the man was yelling profanities at him and approached him, so he shoved him backward in self-defense.
Sunday, Feb. 24
2:30 p.m. – 800 block of W. Liberty St., police received a report that three men were asking for money near Speedway. Police said the men were found inside Taco Bell and said they were questioned and released.
Monday, Feb. 25
4:16 p.m. – 300 block of Elmwood Dr., Brenden Matricardi, 19, arrested and charged with domestic violence. Matricardi’s brother reported that Matricardi threatened to “cut him” and that he had a knife. Matricardi admitted to sending threatening text messages to his brother but said he never intended to hurt him, according to a police report. Police said Matricardi also said the knife fell out of his pocket accidentally and that the blade was closed.
4:25 p.m. – 800 block of N. Main St., the owner of Hubbard Coal and Supply reported that someone has been using their dumpster without their permission.
7:20 p.m. – 100 block of Walnut St., police were called to a house after getting a 911 call about threats. Police said a man and a woman were arguing about a Chinese food order. The man agreed to leave, and no charges were filed.
Tuesday, Feb. 26
1:25 p.m. – 800 block of W. Liberty St., police received a report that a woman stole over-the-counter medication and cough syrup from Dollar General. Police are familiar with the suspect and are investigating.
Wednesday, Feb. 27
8:13 a.m. – 100 block of Mackey St., a man reported that someone broke open and tossed a case of bottled water that was sitting on his back porch. The person also knocked over garbage cans and opened the garage door. Nothing appeared to be missing, according to a police report.
6:16 p.m. – 200 block of School St., a woman from Trumbull County Board of Developmental Disabilities reported an incident with a caretaker and a man with disabilities. She said she received a report that the caretaker hit the man after an argument. She said the victim reported that the caretaker has hit him before and that he has a bad temper. The caretaker was removed from his position pending an internal investigation, and a report was taken. No charges were filed.
