3:34 p.m. – Churchill Road and Elruth Avenue, police responded to a vehicle fire. When they arrived, the driver told police everyone was out of the vehicle. Police said fire was coming from under the hood. They directed traffic near the vehicle while firefighters put it out.
Saturday, November 17
5:27 p.m. – 300 block of N. State St., police responded to a report of graffiti on the side of Commercial Truck and Trailer. The graffiti was done in green spray paint and read, “Signing Off” with a smiley face and a peace sign on the wall. Police said the business was closed and they could not contact the owner.
Sunday, November 18
3:17 a.m. – E. Howard Street and S. Highland Avenue, Michael Smith, 30, charged with OVI. Police said they pulled Smith over for not stopping at a stop sign. According to police, Smith admitted to having a couple of drinks within the past hour. Officers said he did not pass sobriety tests. Police said Smith refused to take a breath test.
Monday, November 19
9:10 p.m. – 500 block of North Ave., police responded to a report of a stolen gun. According to police, the victim said she came back from a trip to find the gun and silverware missing from her house. She said her granddaughter, who was checking on the home periodically, was the one person who had access. There was no sign of forced entry, officers said.
Tuesday, November 20
12:23 a.m. – Churchill Road and North Avenue, police responded to calls about a woman knocking on doors in the area, trying to get inside. Police said the woman, 27-year-old Jamie Ferrell, said her boyfriend had her phone and she was trying to get help. Ferrell was charged with disorderly conduct, according to police.
