Girard crime activity: Police find multiple grams of drugs, pills near child in back seat of car


Wednesday, Sept. 5

1:08 a.m. – 600 block of Trumbull Ave., a man reported someone had smashed out the windows of his trailer. According to police, the man believes one window was damaged by his dog after the others were smashed. Police said there was no sign of entry or the item that smashed the windows.

8:47 a.m. – Corner of State and Emma streets, Nathaniel Woods, 19, of Warren, charged with speeding and drug abuse. Police pulled over Woods’ car after he was seen speeding, according to a police report. Police then found a baggie of marijuana in Woods’ pocket, the report also states.

Friday, Sept. 7

4:20 a.m. – 200 block of Churchill Rd., police were called to a house that was reportedly broken into. A man who lives in the house told police he was woken up by his dogs barking and heard strange noises near his vehicles. When he went downstairs, the man said he saw two people run out the back door and through his yard, according to a police report. Police said there was no sign of forced entry or damage to the vehicles.

Sunday, Sept. 9

10:52 p.m. – Corner of S. Elruth and Wilson avenues, Charles J. Edmonds II, 24, of Youngstown, charged with disorderly conduct and stopped vehicle and Gina Chuppa, 25, charged with disorderly conduct. Police were called after Edmonds and Chuppa were reportedly seen fighting on the side of the road, with their parked car blocking traffic. After police searched the car, they found 40 grams of marijuana, $52 cash, about 30 small plastic bags, several grams of an unknown white substance, 28 suspected Xanax pills and 2 grams of suspected cannabis wax, according to a police report. Police say the drugs were within arm’s reach of Chuppa’s child, who was sitting in the back seat. Additional charges for Edmonds are pending lab results. The child was picked up by her grandmother.
