Girard crime activity: Man reports 10-month-old kitten stolen


Thursday, January 17

8:35 p.m. – 100 block of E. Kline St., reported theft of a 10-month-old kitten. According to police, the victim said he made arrangements with a woman he knew to take care of veterinarian bills. The victim said she took the kitten on Jan. 12 and has since blocked all communication with him. Police said the victim told them she does not own the animal.

Friday, January 18

1:33 p.m. – 100 block of W. Wilson Ave., police responded to a garage break-in. According to a police report, the victim said the garage door was kicked in and several boxes of tools were taken.

Sunday, January 20

9:56 p.m. – I-80 eastbound, Nafis Brown, 24, arrested on a warrant and charged with falsification and failure to control a motor vehicle; Nicholas Ostheimer, 20, arrested and charged with falsification and drug possession. According to police, Brown lied about his name after an accident, which his passenger, Ostheimer, agreed to. Police later identified Brown when his girlfriend showed up to the scene. Brown said he lied because he had warrants out of Sharon. Police said they also found marijuana in the vehicle and Ostheimer’s pocket.

Tuesday, January 22

8:47 p.m. – Churchill and Shannon roads, Andrew Guerrieri, 21, charged with drug paraphernalia. According to a report, police pulled over the car Guerrieri was driving for only having one headlight. Police said they found a mason jar with a plastic bag of raw marijuana, a multi-colored glass bowl and a metal pipe with burnt marijuana residue inside the car.

9:58 p.m. – 300 block of S. Market St., Nadine Nevarez, charged with disorderly conduct. Police responded to Alumni Inn about a disturbance. According to police, Nevarez said she was in an argument with another woman at the bar. She said the other woman tried to fight her when she tried to leave. According to the report, the caller said when asked to leave, Nevarez continued to try to fight the woman and threw ice chunks at vehicles in the parking lot.

Wednesday, January 23

1:50 p.m. – Ohio Leatherworks, Aaron Skeins and Mark Fauvie, arrested and charged with criminal trespass. According to a report, police were looking for a vehicle that fled from the Weathersfield Police Department. Police said they found the vehicle stuck in the snow along railroad tracks. They said the people inside tried to get the vehicle out of the snow before officers ordered them to get out. Skeins had an active arrest warrant out of Punxsutawney Borough in Pennsylvania, the report says.
