Girard crime activity: Knife found in high school parking lot

Wednesday, December 19

8:58 a.m. - 900 block of Gary Ave., reported vehicle break-in. According to a police report, the victim said a bag of tools worth over $400 was missing.

3:19 p.m. - 1100 block of Gary Ave., police responded to Girard High School after a knife was found in the parking lot. The 911 caller said a male and young girl found the 5-inch fixed blade.

Thursday, December 20

1:09 p.m. - 100 block of S. Market St., police responded to a possible home burglary. According to a report, the victim said he saw three males come up from his basement. He did not know if anything had been stolen. Police said they did not find signs that someone forced their way in.

Sunday, December 23

2:48 a.m. - 300 block of S. State St., police responded to Burger King about a disturbance call. When they arrived, police said Dominic Romeo, who was highly intoxicated, was laying on his side with face injuries. According to the report, the restaurant manager said there was a fight in the drive-thru between Romeo and another suspect. A witness said her boyfriend tried to break up the fight. When doing so, the witness said Romeo grabbed her boyfriend by the shirt and swung at him. The other suspect left the scene before police arrived. Romeo was taken to the hospital for his injuries. Police said he is charged with disorderly conduct. The other suspect could face charges as police continue to investigate.
