11:48 p.m. – 700 block of Lawrence Ave., police responded to a possible burglary. According to police, the victim said he and his wife came home to see their front door open. He said they do not use the front door. Police said there were no signs that someone forced their way in and nothing was reported missing. The man’s wife said a man came to the door earlier in the day, saying he was dropping a check in the mail slot. The check was blank, according to police.

Monday, December 31

1:58 a.m. – 800 block of N. State St., police responded to an alarm at Towne Centre Liquor-Lottery. When they arrived, police said the front glass door was smashed and the register was open. According to the report, about 20 cartons of cigarettes were missing from the store.

Tuesday, January 1

7:05 a.m. – 100 block of S. Davis St., police responded to a call about three cars with broken windows. According to a police report, the owner of two of the cars said he found the damage when he woke up that morning. Police said the driver’s side of one vehicle was shattered with a hole in the middle that looked like it came from a BB gun.
