8:16 a.m. – 400 block of Hilltop Blvd., police said a woman lost control of her car in the Hilltop Elementary School parking lot. They said she hit the car in front of her in the drop-off line, and then drove onto a sidewalk and hit a wooden post before crashing into the building. The crash created two cracks in a classroom wall. No one was hurt. Police said the woman did not seem impaired and told them she was not texting or distracted. She said her brakes would not work and she didn’t have control of the car. After her car was examined, police determined there was nothing wrong with it and she never applied the brakes, according to a report. The woman was ticketed for failure to control.
Saturday, January 12
9:28 a.m. – 400 block of W. Main St., Lucas Sims, 34, of East Liverpool, arrested on a warrant for a parole violation out of Columbiana and additionally charged with resisting arrest. Police found Sims at the Evergreen Motel but said he ran from them. They ran after him and tackled him, according to a report. Sims continued to wrestle with them and not cooperate so an officer hit him with a Taser, police said.
Wednesday, January 16
4:18 p.m. – N. Palmyra and Akron Canfield roads, Dominique Williams, 21, of Austintown, charged with drug abuse and possession of drug paraphernalia. An officer said he could smell marijuana coming from the car during a traffic stop. The driver said her passenger, Williams, had been smoking before they were pulled over. Police found a bag of marijuana, blunt and marijuana grinder inside the passenger door compartment, according to a report.
