Boardman crime activity: Woman says man tried to lure her son into his car

Police investigated the following incidents in Boardman from Jan. 3-7:

Thursday, Jan. 3

4:27 p.m. - 8100 block of Market St., 8100 block of Market St., David Kopnitsky, 38, of Lowellville, arrested on a warrant for a theft charge. Police say Kopnitsky was identified as one of two suspects who stole money from a tip jar at Wetzel's Pretzels inside of Walmart.

8:44 p.m. - Market Street near Centervale Avenue, Dustin Desmith, 33, arrested on a warrant for a theft charge. Police said Desmith was identified as the suspect who stole batteries from the Dollar General on December 8. Employees there said Desmith denied stealing the item and began yelling at them while recording the encounter on Facebook Live. Police said Smith continued to deny the theft when he was arrested, making reference to the Facebook video. 

Friday, Jan. 4

3:36 p.m. - 44900 block of Ohio Route 14, Columbiana, Hollie Reese, 28, of East Liverpool, arrested on a warrant for an inducing panic charge. Police said on November 23, Reese overdosed in the bathroom of O'Charley's restaurant, where she worked. Reese admitted to snorting heroin, according to a police report. 

Saturday, Jan. 5

3:44 pm.. - 300 block of Boardman Poland Rd., Joseph McCudden, 24, of Youngstown, arrested and charged with theft and possession of drug abuse instruments and drug paraphernalia. Christopher Gause, 29, of Struthers, arrested on a warrant and charged with receiving stolen property and theft. Police said McCudden and Gause stole items from Kohl's and then drove over to Plato's Closet to sell them. Police said McCudden, who was stopped in front of the Italian Village, admitted to the theft and the plan. Police reported that drug items were found in the car. 

10:17 p.m. - 1300 block of Doral Dr., John Colbert, 30, of Wampum, Pa., arrested and charged with theft, drug abuse, possessing drug abuse instruments and drug paraphernalia. Katie Stoner, 27, of New Castle, Pa., arrested and charged with theft and possession of criminal tools. Police said Colbert and Stoner tried to steal Mountain Dew and a hoverboard from Walmart. Police said Colbert, who was found to have a warrant for his arrest, had a burnt spoon, needle and suspected heroin in his pockets. 

Sunday, Jan. 6

6:25 p.m. - 100 block of Argyle Ave., Bryan Martin, 39, arrested and charged with domestic violence. A woman told police that Martin punched her in the face and asked if she "wanted another one." Police said the woman had swelling and redness on her face. 

Monday, Jan. 7 

3:55 p.m. - 800 block of E. Midlothian Blvd., a woman reported that she believed a man was trying to lure her son into his car while they were shopping at Dollar General. Police said the 9-year-old boy asked a clerk where the earbuds were located in the store when he was approached by a man who said he had some out in his car. The boy followed the man to his car but then got scared, running back into the store, according to a police report. He described the man as a 40- to 50-year-old tall, skinny black man with a bushy mustache and a "weird looking face." He said he had a deep voice and was wearing a black baseball cap, white t-shirt and blue pants. He was driving a four-door gray or silver vehicle.
