Boardman crime activity: Teen says man tried to grab her at Dollar General

Tuesday, March 26

4:20 p.m. – 100 block of Centervale Ave., a man reported that a handgun and $2,000 worth of tools were missing from his vehicle after he had a suspect work on his car.

Wednesday, March 27

2:56 p.m. – 4000 block of Hillman Way, Andre Bankston, 31, arrested and charged with domestic violence, felonious assault and endangering children. Witnesses reported that Bankston threw a power drill at a car in which a child was a passenger. The woman driving the vehicle had been involved in an earlier dispute with Bankston, the witnesses reported. Police said the child was taken to the hospital, but a police report did not specify how the child was injured. 

3:21 p.m. – 7700 block of Glenwood Ave., a 17-year-old Boardman High School student was arrested and charged with illegal conveyance of a deadly weapon in a school safety zone and possession of a defaced weapon. Police said another student heard him talking about having a gun on the school bus and threatening to “shoot up the bus.” Police said the suspect was found at the library. He was accompanied home by police who reported finding an unloaded gun in his bag that was in the apartment. 

Thursday, March 28

3:18 p.m. – 7400 block of Market St., Shar’dell Lowery, 28, arrested on a warrant and charged with theft, resisting arrest, possession of drugs and obstructing official business. Police said Lowery was found with marijuana, pills and counterfeit $100 bills at JCPenney. Police said she was also found to be concealing lipsticks in a clothing bag without paying for them. 

Sunday, March 31

5:50 p.m. – 5100 block of Market St., the owner of Shop N Go reported that a man stole one of the store’s “lucky $20 bills” that was hanging on a wall behind the sales window. The thief was described as a white man, 5’8″ to 5’9″ in height and 180 to 190 pounds, with short brown hair in a buzz cut, wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, blue sweatpants and brown boots. 

8:59 p.m. – 8500 block of Market St., an 18-year-old girl reported that a man appeared to try to grab her at the Dollar General store. She said she ran away and the man ran after her but later turned around and began walking in the opposite direction. He left after buying an item. She described the man as a white man in his mid-30s, approximately 5’10” and 6′, weighing 180 pounds and wearing a gray beanie-style hat, orange hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans. The man walked with a “strange limp,” according to a police report. 

Monday, April 1

11:05 a.m. – 7000 block of West Blvd., police were called to Harbor Pet Center where a man reported that his car had been “keyed.” He gave police the name of a suspect. 

3:49 p.m. – 7100 block of Tiffany Blvd., Jeffrey Piesto, 57, of Youngstown, charged with theft. A Marc’s employee said she saw Piesto, a Nabisco sales representative, drink a bottle of water from the store without paying for it. The employee said Piesto did the same thing on at least two other occasions. 

5:58 p.m. – 6900 block of Glendale Ave., a woman reported that a man asked her sexual questions after identifying himself as a customer service representative of Microsoft over the phone. She said the man had an Australian accent. She tried to call the number back but said it was disconnected.
