Boardman crime activity: IHOP evacuated due to bomb threat

Police in Boardman investigated the following incidents from Dec. 26-30:

BOARDMAN, Ohio (WKBN) - Wednesday, Dec. 26

4:30 p.m. - 900 block of Donmar Ln., a 75-year-old woman was bitten by a dog while walking her dog in the neighborhood, according to a police report. Police said the victim needed seven stitches, and her dog was treated for wounds. Police said there was a report that the dog involved in the attack had killed another dog in 2018. The deputy dog warden was unable to contact the dog's owner but is investigating.

5:37 p.m. - 6200 block of Market St., Katrina Haskins, of Youngstown, arrested and charged with OVI, no driver's license and driving within marked lanes. Police were called to Colla's Barber Shop for a crash in which one of the vehicles tried to leave but eventually stopped at the barbershop. Police said Haskins was sitting in the passenger's seat and tried to lie about who had been driving. Police said she appeared to be intoxicated and later admitted to being the driver. She had a blood-alcohol content of .174, above the legal limit of .08, according to a police report. 

Thursday, Dec. 27

12:05 a.m. - Halbert Drive and Linger Place, Robert Pappas, 44, of Poland, arrested and charged with OVI and failure to control. Police said Pappas crashed into a utility pole and appeared to be intoxicated. He admitted to drinking four to five beers and having several shots of tequila at Sr. Jalapeno, according to a police report. Police said he had a blood-alcohol content of .169, above the legal limit of .08.

10:59 a.m. - 500 block of Boardman Poland Rd., an employee of Pier One Imports reported that some of her prescription pills were stolen while she was at work. The employee suspected a co-worker. 

Sunday, Dec. 30

11:59 a.m. - 100 block of Arlene Ave., William McCawley, 35, arrested on a warrant for resisting arrest and obstructing official business charges. McCawley was charged after a report on December 20 of a tenant "acting strangely" at the Boardman Inn. Police said when they went to his room, they found McCawley drenched in sweat, naked and slurring his speed.  Police said McCawley tried to run from officers and kicked an officer during the struggle. 

2:37 p.m. - 800 block of Boardman Poland Rd., police were called to IHOP for a bomb threat. A manager said she has been getting harassing phone calls from her employee's ex-boyfriend who referenced a bomb next door during one of the calls, according to a police report. The restaurant was evacuated, but nothing was found. The suspect denied making the threat, saying the woman was trying to put him in jail.
