Austintown crime activity: Officers found shoplifter wearing 13 stolen items, police say

12:05 a.m. – N. Raccoon Road and Oakwood Avenue, Courtney Pearson, arrested and charged with drug abuse. Police reported finding suspected crack cocaine and heroin, as well as Tramadol on Pearson during a traffic stop. The driver, who was found with over $2,000 in cash, was given a warning.

6:42 p.m. – 6000 block of Mahoning Ave., Shawn Price, arrested and charged with petty theft and possession of drug paraphernalia. Police said Price shoplifted from JCPenney and ran from the store. He was ordered to the ground by an officer with a Taser. Police said Price was wearing the two jackets and 11 shirts he stole. He also had a syringe, according to a police report.

Friday, May 17

3:28 p.m. – 6100 block of Mahoning Ave., David Buchanan, charged with petty theft and possession of criminal tools. Police said Buchanan cut the cable to a drill on display at Home Depot and tried to leave the store with it.

5:59 p.m. – Oakwood and Carnegie avenues, Kapriese Gordan, arrested on a warrant and charged with falsification and driving under suspension; Kimani Johnson, charged with obstructing official business. Police said Gordan lied about her identity during a traffic stop. Police said Johnson called her by another name during the investigation, tipping officers off that Gordan was lying about her identity.
