Austintown crime activity: Man reports friends stole TV from hotel room

Tuesday, April 23

6:18 p.m. – 1500 block of Fountain Square Dr., Jahod Rose, 25, arrested on a warrant after police were called for a fight between Rose and a family member. No charges were filed as a result of the dispute. 

Wednesday, April 24

3:18 p.m. – 6000 block of Mahoning Ave., James Clay, Jr., 34, of Warren, arrested on a warrant and charged with petty theft and driving under suspension. Walmart employees said Clay tried stealing several items from the store after a credit card that he was using was declined at the self-checkout register. When approached by security, he ran and left in a Ford Focus, according to a police report. Police arrested Clay at BP Fast Trac. 

Tuesday, April 30

10:44 p.m. – N. Roanoke and Mahoning avenues, William Moore, Jr., 49, arrested on a warrant. 

Wednesday, May 1

6:07 p.m. – 500 block of N. Four Mile Run Rd., Daniel Johntony, 27, Autumn Adams, 26, each arrested and charged with domestic violence. Police said the two had been involved in a physical fight when they returned home from the park with their children. Police said they had conflicting stories as to what happened, but both Johntony and Adams had physical injuries. A family member took the children.

Friday, May 3

1:35 a.m. – Laurie and Lancaster drives, Jose Perez, III, 22, arrested and charged with failure to comply, reckless operation, speeding, no motorcycle endorsement and failure to transfer registration. Police said Perez led officers on a chase reaching speeds of more than 75 miles per hour while he was on his motorcycle. The chase ended when Perez went over a curb, the motorcycle slid under a guardrail and Perez fell into a creek, according to a police report. 

4:05 a.m. – Rosemont and Potomac avenues, Peter Harasyn, 39, charged with disorderly conduct. Police said Harasyn appeared intoxicated and was lying in the devil strip in the roadway. He said he was coming from the bar but couldn’t tell officers which bar, according to a police report. 

6 p.m. – N. Meridian and Crum roads, John Jarrell, 42, charged with driving under suspension and drug abuse after a traffic stop. Police said Jarrell had 20 pills for which he did not have a prescription. 

Saturday, May 4

6:16 a.m. – 700 block of Hollywood Dr., Caterrell Jones, 41, of Alliance, charged with disorderly conduct. The manager at Hollywood Gaming said Jones and another man were asked to leave after they became intoxicated and were causing a scene. Police said Jones tried to go back into the business when officers arrived, and he continued yelling and swearing when asked to stop. 

9:25 p.m. – 4400 block of Mahoning Ave., Keith Kopnitsky, 30, arrested on a warrant for a receiving stolen property charge. Police said Kopnitsky reported that he had some friends over his room at the Westgate Hotel and said they stole a television from the room. He gave police the name of the suspects who had already left. Police said they found that Kopnitsky had a warrant for his arrest during their investigation. Charges in the theft haven’t been filed yet. 

Sunday, May 5

5:03 p.m. – 6000 block of Mahoning Ave., Jordan Mountain, 28, arrested on a warrant and charged with theft. Walmart employees said Mountain swapped the price tags on items from the store and scanned the lower-priced items. Police said items suspected of being stolen from another store were found in his vehicle.
