HOWLAND TWP., Ohio (WKBN) – Trumbull County health officials gave an update on how to obtain COVID-19 vaccines in the county.
The Trumbull County Combined Health District and the Warren City Health District are partnering with the Trumbull County Emergency Operations Center to lead vaccination efforts in the county.
Ohio opened up vaccine eligibility to all those ages 16 and older on March 29.
Beginning Monday, March 8, Trumbull County began using the State Scheduling System, VMS, to register eligible individuals to receive the COVID-19 vaccine at their clinics.
To register please visit gettheshot.coronavirus.ohio.gov where you will be prompted with eligibility
questions and provided with the availability of clinics within 20 miles of your zip code.
Upon completing the registration process you will be provided a confirmation number via email or mobile phone text with your appointment information.
Please ensure to bring that confirmation number, email, or text with you to the vaccine clinic to check-in. For those individuals who do not have access to a computer, you may call 330-675-2489 for assistance in getting scheduled.
The Trumbull County Fairgrounds will be the primary spot where the vaccines will be given out.
Both Trumbull Regional Medical Center and Mercy Health’s Howland Medical Center are also offering vaccines, and appointments are being made.
Each of Trumbull County’s six Giant Eagle Pharmacies will also get vaccines.
Appointments are required at all locations and can be made online. No walk-ins will be allowed.
“I do believe that things will never go back to 100% normal, meaning do the screens every come down at the grocery stores? Do we ever have a lot of the things we used to do? However, I think more normalcy will come later this year,” said Dr. James Kravec, chief medical officer for Mercy Health Youngstown.
The Ohio Department of Health has announced that Walgreen Pharmacies and CVS Pharmacies will also be receiving vaccines to be administered to age-eligible recipients. Individuals will need to contact those pharmacy locations directly to find out about their registration process.

Individuals without internet access may also call the health district at the number listed above, but the preferred method is the web registration tool. The Trumbull County Combine Health District will have updates on its website.
Those registering for vaccinations must understand that all vaccinations currently in Trumbull County are by registration and appointment only. Those attending vaccination clinics are asked to have been registered with an appointment prior to arrival.
The Trumbull County Combined Health District is asking for patience and understanding from the community due to limited vaccine availability.
According to the health department, those who left the required information will be contacted, though it may take several weeks to receive a return call, depending on the number of vaccines received.
Each provider can only register residents for their own locations. If you wish to be registered at a specific location, or register with multiple providers, you must contact and register with those providers individually.
Residents are encouraged to check the Trumbull County Combined Health District website, Facebook page or Twitter for the latest information on vaccine offerings, a list of providers and other information regarding COVID-19 and the vaccine.
