Boardman man, charged with fatally striking pedestrian, rejects plea deal

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – A Boardman man charged with fatally striking a pedestrian while under the influence is set for trial later this month after rejecting a deal from prosecutors.

Ryan Ferrebee appeared in court Wednesday morning on charges of aggravated vehicular homicide and OVI.

He’s accused of hitting Jorge Guartan in April 2015 as the victim was crossing Glenwood Avenue near Mill Creek Park in Youngstown. Guartan died from his injuries.

Although prosecutors offered Ferrebee reduced charges if he would plead guilty, Ferrebee told Judge Maureen Sweeney that he wants a trial.

That trial is now set for June 27.
